Challenge Statistics: NaNoWriMo2006   Instructions: IMPORTANT! The spreadsheet is set up to be versatile for a wordcount challenge of any number of days. Fill in the data to the left. In order to have enough lines of data for your challenge, highlight the ENTIRE row that says "Pull down this row only." Put your mouse on the small black square in the bottom left corner of the row, and pull down until the Day line has the appropriate number of days for your challenge. If you pull too many, simply delete the ones that go over the number you want. DO NOT delete rows from the middle. If you need more, simply pull down from the last line.

Gave myself nightmares last night. Need to take a break already. Great progress for first day but I'm writing total total total crapola.

Wish I had a laptop to do some writing in bed. Wish I had some decent ideas so I could do some more writing. Egad. Taking daily pictures now as well.
3-Nov 7,605 5.00 2,452 490 42,395 2,535 1,570 -2% November 20, 2006 4.90% 15.21% 76.0 7 Very sick. Stayed home all day and played Final Fantasy, wrote, and watched After the Thin Man. Much progress. Liking this piece of crap a lot more.
4-Nov 10,112 4.00 2,507 626 39,888 2,528 1,534 0% November 20, 2006 5.01% 20.22% 72.0 7 Still sick. Drinking tons of orange juice, taking cold-eze, etc. Bought Thin Man novel and some comics and am managing to keep a pace that is quite amazing to me.
5-Nov 12,163 2.50 2,051 820 37,837 2,433 1,513 -4% November 21, 2006 4.10% 24.33% 68.0 8 Got through potential hell day at Morseland without a scratch. Wrote 1000 words at midnight without even thinking about it. Wrote maybe 300 while at work. Didn't really get a chance. Off an on for another 700 tonight. Not super motivated, but still another 2k+ day. Hooray!
6-Nov 14,234 3.00 2,071 690 35,766 2,372 1,490 -3% November 22, 2006 4.14% 28.47% 64.0 7 Slowing a bit it feels like, but I'm on a good schedule, good discipline. Sickness almost gone.
7-Nov 16,294 4.00 2,060 515 33,706 2,328 1,465 -2% November 22, 2006 4.12% 32.59% 61.0 8 My side hurts like mad. Whatever I did to it on the bar on Sunday is getting worse before it gets better. Maybe it feels like I got shot in the gut. Oh yeah. OH YEAH! Can't believe how far ahead I am -- consistently staying about 3.5 days ahead of pace. Very good built-in safety net. Glad I got so much done the first few days.
8-Nov 19,010 4.00 2,716 679 30,990 2,376 1,409 2% November 22, 2006 5.43% 38.02% 56.0 7 I dunno why I was able to write so much in one day again all of a sudden. Didn't feel like it was that productive a day but you can't argue with the results. So many things I want to go back and change, but it feels like if I mess with the foundation, the whole thing will crash down. Probably will anyway. Got some good ideas for future scenes.
9-Nov 21,036 4.00 2,026 506 28,964 2,337 1,379 -2% November 22, 2006 4.05% 42.07% 52.0 8 Met up with Kamplain tonight and discussed the novel in depth. He had great ideas, some of which I'm using. The best ideas, unfortunately, would require too much ripping apart to do properly, so I think, for the time being, I'll do them improperly. Finished my writing early in the day and didn't take advantage to get further ahead, but whatever.
10-Nov 23,235 3.50 2,199 628 26,765 2,324 1,338 -1% November 22, 2006 4.40% 46.47% 48.0 8 Ripped the thing apart today. Actually wasn't too painful. Turns out I was wrong about the work it would take to incorporate the ideas discussed last night. Renamed Amundsen to Alan Klimp in honor of John. Rewrote quite a few scenes and managed to get 2200 new words involved on this adventure. Dropped Glass Writer as I no longer trusted it. Now working with more universally reliable and flexible (I can't believe I'm saying this) Microsoft Word.
11-Nov 26,300 5.00 3,065 613 23,700 2,391 1,247 3% November 21, 2006 6.13% 52.60% 42.0 7.5 Major victory over the servers at Morseland today. Major writing day which will help against tomorrow. Still writing a lot of words, but I don't know exactly where I'm going. Staying with backstory because it's easier than trying to push things ahead. Too tired for this right now, I think.
12-Nov 28,351 2.50 2,051 820 21,649 2,363 1,203 -1% November 22, 2006 4.10% 56.70% 39.0 9 Really great day -- good work, less pain, Bears win. Didn't write much. How weird is it that I have two days with the exact same number of words written? Spooooooooooky.
13-Nov 30,446 4.00 2,095 523 19,554 2,342 1,150 -1% November 22, 2006 4.19% 60.89% 35.0 7 Every word so hard fought for. Exhausted. Jogged this morning for the first time in a week and I think that might have had something to do with it. Really really really tired. Did I mention that? Funny how everything feels so slow and at the last second I'm able to get in 200 words to keep my string of 2000+ days intact. Can't believe I'm over 60% done. Story is really slowing down. I'm afraid of turning each corner because I don't know how to write them, or what's coming next.
14-Nov 33,045 3.50 2,599 742 16,955 2,360 1,060 1% November 22, 2006 5.20% 66.09% 30.0 8.5 Figured some more things out about the mystery. Not sure if it's a good one, or if it'll be the "final" one, but it's alright. Should be able to fill and pad until the end. Only 17,000 words to go, which is weird. That took me 8 days to get 17k on the way here which puts me equal with the November 22nd estimated finish.....
15-Nov 35,189 4.00 2,144 536 14,811 2,346 987 -1% November 22, 2006 4.29% 70.38% 26.0 7 So very very very tired today again. Finished "The Thin Man". Such an excellent book. Starting on "The Big Sleep" whose first paragraph is just wonderful. But again slowing downÉdon't know how to wind this up, or wind this down. Stupid to create a mystery and not be able to make it a satisfying mystery. I'm haphazardly slapping explanations together.
16-Nov 37,216 4.00 2,027 506 12,784 2,326 913 -1% November 22, 2006 4.05% 74.43% 23.0 7.5 Just managed to struggle across the 2000 word mark for the day. Some crazy revelations again, that I hope will ring true in the story. Starting to puzzle together what might have happened.
17-Nov 38,622 2.00 1,406 703 11,378 2,272 875 -2% November 23, 2006 2.81% 77.24% 20.0 7 Lowest word count day to date, but a semi-conscious choice to better match the pace I should be on. Not sure if I should just push as I have been to finish or take it slow and steady.
18-Nov 39,196 2.00 574 287 10,804 2,178 900 -4% November 23, 2006 1.15% 78.39% 19.0 7 Wow -- didn't think I could drop any lower, but look at that!
19-Nov 41,000 4.00 1,804 451 9,000 2,158 818 -1% November 24, 2006 3.61% 82.00% 16.0 7 Not bad. Wrote a lot more at Morseland than I have the past few times. Getting close. I could do the rest in three days if I really knuckled down. Probably won't happen. Let's see!
20-Nov 42,094 3.00 1,094 364 7,906 2,105 791 -3% November 24, 2006 2.19% 84.19% 14.0 8 Did I finally have the actual revelation that might lead to a conclusion to this bad boy? We shall see.
21-Nov 43,472 4.00 1,378 344 6,528 2,070 725 -2% November 25, 2006 2.76% 86.94% 11.0 8 I may just know where this is all going. It's the getting there that's truly tough. Moved a bit to the end and I think it's going to make a great moment. Wish it could be the end but it's not enough of a reveal, but it has that "end of story" feel to it.... I'll figure it out.
22-Nov 44,004 2.00 532 266 5,996 2,000 750 -3% November 25, 2006 1.06% 88.01% 10.0 8 Another non-writing day. But it was a good day filled with coffee and cognac.
23-Nov 44,711 2.00 707 353 5,289 1,944 756 -3% November 26, 2006 1.41% 89.42% 9.0 7 Weird day. Back and forth writing. Exhausted. Could barely see. Kinda wish I had the day back. Distracted. Not as dedicated. Thinking of ways to cop out of this and still get 50k words. Bad bad bad bad bad. Wish I had another Chandler novel waiting in the wings.
24-Nov 46,006 2.50 1,295 518 3,994 1,917 666 -1% November 27, 2006 2.59% 92.01% 7.0 7 Range of morale today. Ups and downs. Didn't start writing till 9:30, I think. Still unsure of how satisfying an ending I'll be able to come up with. How many of these comments read like this?
25-Nov 47,391 3.00 1,385 461 2,609 1,896 522 -1% November 27, 2006 2.77% 94.78% 4.0 7 Tired most of the day. Forcing myself to put crap down on page. Getting closer and closer.
26-Nov 48,633 3.00 1,242 414 1,367 1,871 342 -1% November 27, 2006 2.48% 97.27% 2.0 5 Probably the worst day ever. Extremely exhausted, everyone in a foul mood, me included. However, got some great writing out of it, so take that, demons!
27-Nov 50,002 3.00 1,369 456   1,852   -1%   2.74% 100.00% #VALUE! 9 Some intense writing today. Some weird stuff. And I'm done with the word count! Amazing!
